A Service to Remember

We celebrated our first ‘Service to Remember’ this month (15th May 2019) and were overwhelmed with the turnout. The evening was an echumenical service to which all were welcome. People were invited to reflect on thier own grief and sense of loss through a variety of songs, visual images, readings and prayers.

At the end of the service all were invited to write a message or a name on a tag and hang it on one of the two trees on either side of the altar. These can still be found at the back of St. Agnes' church and anyone is welcome to add their own message to it. As well as this there is the memory book which anyone is invited to add their own thoughts, prayers or intentions. What was almost tangible in the church was the outpouring of love. Love for those we have lost, love for those who we know are in pain, love for the stranger whose pain we cannot know, but empathise with because we know our own. May all who came find comfort in that love.

A big thank you to the Bereavement Team and the time and thought that went into preparing such a beautiful evening.
