Communion Programme for 2016/2017

The Holy Communion Programme is changing again slightly. It is very important that anyone wanting their child to participate in the next programme fills in and submits an application form regardless of the school they attend. Application forms are available from the website, via Facebook (please private message the Parish page), via email -, from the back of church or from the Parish Office during office hours.

Your child's First Holy Communion Day is a very special one and we know how much families look forward to celebrating these occasions. The preparation for the sacraments is very important and a commitment from you and your child, to participate fully in the programme, is vital.
Last year we moved back to working with the children in small groups within the catechists sessions. This has proved to be very successful with the children developing confidence in their groups to ask questions and participate fully. The sessions are planned with the children in mind and we try to make them as interactive as possible so they are able to understand and relate to what they will experience. There are also sessions that are to be completed at home as a family. Again, these are designed to encourage communication between you and your child on the reasons behind coming to church and being part of the Church community.

A full run through of what will happen in the programme, the dates of the programme and the venues for the catechists sessions and rehearsals will be confirmed in September. In the meantime, please ensure you have filled in an application form, dropped it in to one of the designated boxes at the back of church or given it in to the office as soon as possible. Once we have your details, we will be able to keep you updated with any upcoming meetings or plans. You should also be attending Mass on a weekly basis with your child so that they are familiar with the Mass and what happens in church.
