Romania Day Four

A better day after Wednesday. The weather improved slightly, the children were arranged into groups and we were better organised with everybody knowing exactly what they were doing!!!! The face painters were moved into a room of their own and only had the children they were painting waiting around.

The craft room was extended to two rooms and the children arranged into more manageable groups. The games room was once again used for indoor ball games and outside Jose and Fr Anton began basketball training in earnest.

Lunch for the 78 children was simplified to sandwiches and cake and was prepared by Joe, Chris and Bryan and served by “the ladies” with tables set up in the downstairs corridor. A much more civilised affair.

In the evening we held an outdoor Mass with Fr Anton at Serena’s house. It was his last “official” duty as he was returning to Huyton on Friday. He also handed over the running of the W.C.M.A.D. projects to the group with Honor and Joe as group leaders. It was an emotional ceremony as he explained why he was stepping down and there were a few moist eyes as he gave over his Red Book to Joe. A meal of Chicken, rice and Cous Cous followed prepared by Cathy.

We took the opportunity to celebrate Fr Anton’s involvement in the W.C.M.A.D. Project and to wish him well with the rest of his ministry at St Aidan’s and St Agnes and after a good discussion about the following days events we retired.
